Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today participated in the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with the United States, in Manila, the Philippines. The Meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of ASEAN and the United States to strengthening cooperation in support of regional peace, stability, and prosperity as both sides prepare to commemorate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-United States Dialogue Relations and the 5th anniversary of the ASEAN-United States Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2027.
The Meeting discussed ways to further advance ASEAN-United States cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and concern. Reaffirming its commitment to further deepen and expand the ASEAN–United States CSP, the Meeting looked forward to the adoption of the Comprehensive Work Plan to Implement the ASEAN-United States Leaders’ Joint Vision Statement to Promote Stronger, Safer, and More Prosperous ASEAN and America, which will serve as the key framework guiding cooperation across areas of mutual interest over the next five years.
The Meeting was attended by ASEAN Foreign Ministers or their representatives, United States Secretary of State, Marco A. Rubio, and the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn.
