Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Berris Ekinci, on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.
They discussed ways to enhance ASEAN-Türkiye cooperation in areas of mutual interest in line with the ASEAN-Türkiye Sectoral Dialogue Partnership: Practical Cooperation Areas (2024-2028) and explored avenues to further strengthen the formal partnership in the lead‑up to its 10th anniversary of the ASEAN-Türkiye formal relations in 2027.
Both sides also exchanged views on the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), taking note of its 50th anniversary this year and recalling that Türkiye acceded to the TAC in 2010.
