Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today participated in the 22nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation (AMMSTI-22) in Vientiane, Lao PDR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Themed \u201cAdvancing the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI) for a Resilient, Sustainable and Competitive ASEAN,\u201d the meeting discussed the role of science, technology and innovation in strengthening regional resilience to address transnational and shared challenges, deepening strategic cooperation with external partners to advance shared goals and collective prosperity, and preparing ASEAN for technologies that will shape the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministers unanimously endorsed a landmark restructuring of the ASEAN COSTI sub-committee framework from nine to five focused sub-committees, strengthening regional STI governance, enhancing strategic alignment with APASTI, and enabling impactful delivery of ASEAN STI priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his intervention, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn called for a resilient, innovative, dynamic and people-centred ASEAN, with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and its Strategic Plans, as well as ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI) serving as the roadmaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
