On the sidelines of the 32nd APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting in Suzhou, China, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, met with the Vice Minister of Commerce and International Trade Representative of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Li Chenggang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both sides discussed and exchanged views on ASEAN-China economic relations, including progress towards the ratification of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) 3.0 Upgrade Protocol, and welcomed the strong momentum of ASEAN-China economic cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Kao also shared updates on ASEAN\u2019s economic priorities under the Philippines\u2019 2026 ASEAN Chairship, including the upgraded ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) and the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Dr. Kao highlighted ASEAN\u2019s collective response to the evolving situation in the Middle East, reaffirming ASEAN\u2019s commitment to an open, resilient, and forward-looking regional economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
