Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, this afternoon called on the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Sugiono, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, in Jakarta. They discussed a number of key issues of importance to ASEAN, particularly in preparations for the upcoming 46th ASEAN Summit in May 2025, including the planned adoption of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and its Strategic Plans, Timor-Leste’s full membership in ASEAN, as well as ASEAN’s external relations. SG Dr. Kao took the opportunity to inform the Minister on major activities planned to be hosted at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat this year, including on the ASEAN Day. The Secretary-General of ASEAN also reaffirmed the Minister of the ASEAN Secretariat’s commitment to supporting Indonesia and other ASEAN Member States as they embark on the next chapter in ASEAN’s Community-building journey beyond 2025.
