Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, shared insights with CGTN on ASEAN’s open, inclusive approach to trade, emphasizing initiatives such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA). He highlighted ASEAN’s balanced partnerships with major global economies and stressed diversification for long-term stability. Dr. Kao also discussed ASEAN’s growing cooperation with its partners, including China, in technology, digitalisation and green energy. Looking ahead, Dr. Kao emphasized the importance of aligning the ASEAN-China Plan of Action (2026-2030) with global trends in sustainability and innovation.
