This afternoon in Hiroshima, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn, visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, a place documenting the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in World War II. After a brief tour at the Museum, SG Dr Kao signed the guest book, gave a media interview and laid wreath at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. It is important to note that Hiroshima is the first city in the world to experience the atomic bombing and rebuilt itself from the ashes. As a strong proponent of peace, ASEAN is committed to working closely together with the rest of the world to ensure a nuclear weapons-free zone and prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the region and beyond.
