At the invitation of Professor Tetsuya Watanabe, President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn,will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation for a Working Visit to Japan, on 19-25 May 2024. During the visit, Secretary-General Dr Kao is scheduled to meet with key high-ranking Japanese government officials, academia, and the business community, among others, to discuss and explore ways to further strengthen the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Secretary-General Dr Kao will also be visiting Hiroshima University where he will deliver a special lecture to a group of students, including from the ASEAN member states, on “ASEAN’s Strategic Role in Maintaining Peace and Advancing Prosperity in the Region.” At Hiroshima University, Dr Kao Kim Hourn will receive the title of “Specially Invited Professor” from this prestigious University. In conjunction with the Working Visit, Dr Kao will also participate in the Nikkei Forum 29th Future of Asia as a panelist, where he would discuss and elaborate on “Cross-border Digital Synergy: Enhancing Asia-Pacific Cooperation.”
